▼ The domestic model toy brand “EC Model” is about to release the first plastic model kit in its , “SR-01 White Oni” and the “SR-01 Expansion Pack.” It is positioned with a proportion similar to MGSD, but adds a “two flavors in one” playstyle through two sets of interchangeable outer armor. However, if you carefully compare both forms with the original source material settings, there are still quite a few differences. This kind of left-brain versus right-brain tug-of-war feeling almost feels like a tribute to the old FIX style. It really leaves one quite conflicted…

▼ Runner Overview
The main body includes a total of 33 runners.
Since it comes with two sets of outer armor,
the total number of parts rivals that of an MG kit.

▼ Other components include magnets, flexible snake-bone parts, and an LED unit.

▼ The LED unit features three light effects: green, red, and purple.
It automatically turns off after about one minute.

▼ Most parts use “hidden gates.”
Although there is no obvious flashing on the parts,
I feel there is still room for improvement in detail sharpness.
The clear parts come with pearlescent pre-painting.
The silver parts feature runner-level spray coating.

The main body + expansion pack can simultaneously form two units: Bael + Wolf King. The total height is approximately 16 cm. Both are presented in MGSD-style proportions. In comparison, the Wolf King’s design appears fuller and more handsome. Aside from the head sculpt, shoulder armor, and rear thruster wings, most of Bael’s body has been modified to accommodate the armor-swapping playstyle. However, under MGSD proportions, this seems to be a reasonable direction for modification. If you only purchase one set, it is recommended to assemble just one form, as swapping parts can be quite troublesome.

▼ Inside the Wolf King’s collar is an embossed emblem of “that Iron.” Bael does not have this detail inside the collar.

▼ For those concerned about Bael’s lower accuracy to the original design, you may consider using parts from an “HG Bael” kit for modification, which also yields a good result.

▼ Although this kit aligns with MGSD standards, to accommodate the Wolf King’s long arms and beast-type legs, the leg frame has been lengthened. Therefore, its final overall size is taller than MGSD.

▼ The torso frame is largely consistent with MGSD. An additional hydraulic linkage is added at the shoulder clavicle position. The head, arms, and leg frames are completely newly designed.

▼ The LED inside the head offers three color options, but the purple light has weaker light transmission.

▼ The waist has a similar range of articulation to the original version, and the waist hydraulic rod also features a linkage structure.

▼ There is a cockpit inside the chest. EC has included a seated Mikazuki figure inside. In addition, there are chibi standing figures of Orga and Mikazuki. Unfortunately, the molding precision is rather disappointing.

▼ The shoulder joints feature a joint-lock structure similar to the original. During handling, the shoulders feel very stable and reliable.

▼ The articulation range of both arm types is similar. However, the Wolf King’s hands feature individually articulated five fingers, while the Fenrir-style hands use a traditional 1-1-3 articulated hand structure. The fingernails are also differentiated from the Wolf King’s design.

▼ The hidden arm inside the Wolf King’s arm is also faithfully reproduced and can be used to hold the large spear hammer.

▼ When pulling out the shoulder joint, there is a chance it may detach. Applying some joint strengthening solution to thicken the inner ball joint is recommended.

▼ The hips feature a drop-down articulation structure. The heel reproduces the Wolf King’s extendable heel spike design, and the sliding slot here is relatively tight. The legs have double-joint bending. With the long legs and arms, kneeling on one knee poses no issue.

▼ There are three different toe designs to choose from. It is unclear whether a Fenrir constellation form will be released later.

▼ The backpack design references the GK Wolf King style. The tail can achieve a flying attack effect using the flexible snake-bone part. There is slight looseness between the snake-bone and socket, causing side-to-side wobbling. It is recommended to fix it firmly with adhesive.

▼ The Bael thruster wings can be swapped onto both sides of the Wolf King’s backpack.

▼ The root of Bael’s thruster wings can be removed and replaced with the spare pair of arms, achieving the kit’s original four-arm form.

▼ In terms of weapons, it includes Bael’s two royal swords, though the size is somewhat short.

▼ The Wolf King’s large spear hammer faithfully reproduces its large volume, extendable handle, and built-in steel spike structure. It is also recommended to reinforce the combined spear hammer with adhesive to prevent armor parts from popping off when extending the handle and spike.
