HeatBoys HB0015 TMNT Donatello
rico soul: Donatello is definitely my favorite turtle and snipers are my favorite style of mecha so I'm definitely excited or this one. I'm not too sure about the cape though, since generally I feel like cloth capes tend to look too fake but molded plastic capes looks too static. It's just a tricky thing to get just right.

They last product photo didn't show the cape so I wonder if they are still planning to use that part of the design.
Dspiae ST-A 3.0 Ultra-Thin Single-Blade Nipper
rico soul: lol wow it's kind of nice to see Gundamit offer the Dspiae nipper. This is a excellent and very well known nipper by now. Probably only 2nd to the legendary godhand nippers.
Orange Cat Industry Tekkaman Blade Sol Tekkaman 2 Noal Version Model Kit
rico soul: It's nice to see another Tekkaman model kit from Orange Cat, especially for old farts like me that grew up watching Tekkaman Blade.

Orange Cat has historically had solid quality plastic molding fit and finish so we can expect this to be quite good.
This is a must have for any Tekkaman fans.

It's also pretty neat that they snuck a little tease at the teal colors Balzac version Sol Tekkaman as well.
Effects Wings 1/100 Enhanced Upgrade Kit for MG/HR Gundam Astray Blue Frame
rico soul: Now that effect wings has released actual photos of this, it's looking really good.
It still looks like pretty much just a straight bootleg of the Bandai HIRM Powered Red but just having it as a standalone add-on makes it a nice option.

The way the original worked is that this is essentially a backpack, with the main body having the arms removed and then these gorilla arms can then wrap around and socket in at the shoulders. The metal build is the same way but is a standalone backpack so you can have the regular arms on the astray and the gorilla arms hanging out the back. From the photos EW released, this looks to be possible with this and it looks like they may even let you stack on two or more backpacks for a multiarmed asura look.

Pretty neat

Hamster: Just a question. Do you think this will fit in blue frame second revised?

By Jan 29,2023 14:46:03

rico soul: yes this will fit all of the Bandai MG Astrays, including both the Blue Frame 2nd R and the Blue Frame D. They also included a ton of backpack adaptor parts to fit on the MG Unicorn, Strike, Freedom 2.0, Sinanju, and Barbatos and of course HiRM astray.
MJH 1/100 MBF-P0X Gundam Astray Noir Model Kit
rico soul: This is an excellent kit. Plastic is strong and the build is fairly unique being an HIRM conversion.
Tight fitting and minimal issues. Highly recommended.
SJL Model 1/100 PD004 Type-X Suit Upgrade Kits for MG GNY-001F Gundam Astraea Type F
rico soul: This is another of SJL's faux metal build expansion kits for MG 00 suits. Unfortunately, it has the same quality issues as everything else from SJL. They have such great ideas for expansion kits, but always such poor execution...
HS 1/100 GNY-001XB Astraea Gundam Type X Finsternis Model Kit Black Version
rico soul: So I was mistaken about this originally. This Astraea from Hobby Star is still reusing the same mold that's based on the MG Exia frame so it does actually work with the metal frame kits, with some minor modifications.

Equipment wise, this is pretty much the same as the Astraea Type-F, just in the black and purple color scheme of the Astraea Type-X. It's a solid design overall, and pretty much the only available black Astraea I know of outside of the Bandai Metal Build.

Personally, I would still get an Avalanche Astraea or Exia from Hobby Star though. I think that's where their mold really shines.
HowlingStar Cenozoicera Atmosphere CZ-12A Nebula B-Type Model Kit
rico soul: So this is kind of interesting. This is apparently an officially licensed product from the gacha game Cross Core, which is pretty much a sci-fi mecha waifu tactical rpg.

Not sure where this Nebula mech actually fits into the game since the characters are all humans. HowlingStar is apparently also making some mecha girl figures from the game as well.

In any case, this mech design is pretty interesting and they just released a promo video for it. Looks very futuristic as befitting of the game. Will love to see how this actually turns out as a build.
Chunxia Model 1/100 Metal Frame for Daban 8802 MG ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam Model Kit
rico soul: Interesting.....I didn't know this one was in development.

Currently the Dragon Momoko frame is the best one for their kit and when fully built, it's pretty close to the original Bandai Metal Build. The Daban 8802 has better parts separation for color correctness than the Dragon Momoko but was lacking a good metal frame. This looks to be a fairly beefy option and even includes reinforced parts for the backpack.

Kind of a niche item but should be a great upgrade for people that bought the 8802 MB Strike Freedom.

I'll attach a photo of my Dragon Momoko frame for comparison.
MENG Model MECHA-004M Official Licensed New Unit-02α Multi-Color Edition Model Kit w/ Decal
rico soul: I really like the way this Meng Eva Unit-02 turned out but I'm a sucker for heavily armed and armored looks.

This should look great next to the awsome Meng Unit-01.
