rico soul: Finally reviewers are getting the collectors edition and we are seeing some hope that this will come out soon.
The alloy parts looks like what they originally advertised. Not much more than the regular but should help with some structural integrity.

XiaoXing: Saw one of my friends buy a non-collector version (big box btw). I am holding myself to getting this because of the complicated design and quite a lot of runners. But after seeing one of the Japanese modellers working on this. I am now more tempted to buy one.

Was hoping it be same price for the 2nd run or like 150. but 70 bucks jump is much. hope it goes on sale >.< .

rico soul: the original ShowZ listing doesn't include the effect parts, this one does, which would increase the price by around $40. The rest is just price inflation and market demands.

This is a pretty awesome looking kit. From my understanding, the build quality is a bit lacking but aesthetically speaking, the metal build astray is probably the best looking astray, and that 150 gebera straight is pretty badass.

rico soul: This is another metal frame model kit coming out of China. This one actually has me quite interested.

Robox Animation has released a metal build style figure before and was a pretty solid design. So it'll be interesting to see how they design this metal frame model kit.

Maybe because it's more of an original design, I don't think their previous release received as much hype as the more Gundam like metal builds. But personally I like this style as a general mecha fan.

They are doing any interesting promotion, the kit is already priced well initially starting at 198 RMB retail, but they will drop the retail price depending on much many preorders ends up happening, down to a crazy good 158 RMB potentially if they get over 50K preorders before July. Not sure if any of that will translate here but it's at least an interesting promo.

Currently this kit is scheduled to be released October 2023 with more information to come in July.

HS GNY-001 Astraea Gundam Model Kit [Comment]

rico soul: Early reviews of this are in.
So it's pretty much just a direct color swap of the HS red astraea type-f avalanche kit and all the same problems are here. Even the clear type-f mask and GN hammer is included on the runners

So for people unfamiliar with the HS red Astraea avalanche from before, you can build both the base astraea and the avalanche version.

So notable negatives are:
- The swords are painted on the runners so there will be visible nub marks after cutting them out
- nub placement on the kit can be in poorly designed places so nub cleanup can be a bit of a pain
- frame is based on the MG Exia frame and even though the ankles are modified it can still be a bit floppy if displaying without an action base
- reviews say the joints are decently tight out of the box for different poses, but I know for the red avalanche before, people had complained about joins sagging over time.

No LED is included in this kit, but it would be compatible with any MG Exia compatible LED

I've always liked the aesthetics of the HS Astraea even though it's not a direct rip of the metal build design. Since it's mostly compatible with the Exia metal frame kits, a lot of the joint issues can be fixed.

PsychoJagdDoga: Gonna get this and try to fit it with the Tiechuang Model MG 1/100 metal parts set. Hopefully it mostly fits. That said, you rico soul are primo commenter of commenters. I love this site and people who dig for info post here, like you, make it even better. You know Hobby Star inside and out and because of your reviews I've decided to go all in here. I know you said the Exia kits were better for the molds but I like this unique pale Avalanche Astrea. Definitely a better deal than the Type X sadly because of the price, but this is gonna be an interesting build.

rico soul: Hope you end up liking it. It seems to be a pretty popular combination in China to throw an HS kit on the TieChuang Exia frame and something I'm planning to do as well. However, it does take some modifications the make the frame fit. Chest c-clips needs to be enlarged carefully, some of the leg armor needs to be grinded down a bit or have the pegs removed, and the most complex modification is to make the ankle connector fit the HS feet. rico soul: Kainar is a Chinese mecha show I believe and they've sent out their IP to be used by various Chinese manufactures to create kits and figures. This is the one that was just recently announced from CangDao as a 1/100 model.

I don't know enough about the source material but CangDao has consistently made good stuff so this should be a solid entry. We'll just need to wait for more details and to see if they'll price it as nice as the recently announced 1/100 TianWei
