▼ The gold and metallic red parts have been pre-painted directly on the runners. There are 19 pre-painted runners in total. However, there is only one shade of gold—no gradient or tonal variation. The paint quality and color finish are decent and up to standard.

▼ It was likely designed based on GK-style part separation, resulting in many tiny segmented pieces of the same color. Personally, I think this doesn’t add much value. Moreover, the hidden gate processing on such small parts becomes twice as difficult.

▼ Through staged assembly, a secondary inner frame structure can be formed—one of the increasingly common yet arguably unnecessary design choices among domestic model kits in recent years.

▼ The main body stands approximately 22 cm tall. Using the aerial combat-type Retsukyu (large falcon) backpack as an example, the overall out-of-box appearance is quite impressive. When holding weapons, the issue of overly long arms is effectively mitigated. However, due to the combination of a metal inner frame and pre-painted parts, assembly inevitably requires some “Iron Finger” strength.

▼ The large falcon backpack can be separated into a standalone mini aircraft, with its basic functions and details faithfully reproduced. The wing design is rather broad and thick—an inherited issue from the original garage kit (GK). Unfortunately, it does not include a dedicated connector piece for displaying the mini aircraft on a stand, which is a bit of a missed opportunity.

▼ The Prism (Shiranui) backpack configuration looks significantly better than the Air Combat type and is personally the one I recommend installing.

▼ It comes with 7 DRAGOON units (though you can actually assemble 8). Each tail piece can be fitted with a 3mm connector for display stands. However, no floating weapon stands are included — which is a bit ironic.

▼ Now let’s take a look at the main body without any backpack — the proportion issues become immediately apparent. While the odd body ratio is inherited from the original GK design, it’s hard to understand why no adjustments were made, especially when they’ve already converted it into a buildable model with alloy skeleton and external armor. (Of course, if you’re okay with the long arms, feel free to ignore this point.)

▼ The main body also inherits the impressive customized detailing from the original GK, especially in terms of sharp edge definition — that’s definitely a strong point. However, when compared to the original mecha design, there’s a clear visual disconnect: the head sculpt, chest armor, and forearms feature numerous angular cuts and sharp facets, which contrast sharply with the relatively minimalistic lower body.

▼ The arms can lift horizontally up to 90 degrees, and the elbows can bend about 120 degrees. However, the shoulder armor restricts the shrugging (upward movement) articulation.

▼ The side skirt armor limits the outward leg movement, the ankle can tilt about 45 degrees, and the knee joint can bend roughly 90 degrees. As a result, once the outer armor is equipped, the model cannot achieve a proper single-knee kneeling pose.

▼ Overall, the articulation range is quite average compared to other model kits released in 2025. However, if you’re mainly interested in the GK-style appearance but lack the skills or time to build a full garage kit, this “Breaking Dawn” serves as a decent alternative. It stands well with a finished-product-level appearance straight out of the box, and the paint quality is solid. That said, if you’re looking for a figure that can handle dynamic posing and heavy play, it’s best to think twice before diving in.
