Stay updated with the latest toy news. ABS Workshop released a 1/100 MG Masurao Bushido Heroic Macho Model Kit. Let's assess its performance through the official photos!

▼ The outer box is relatively simple in design, and the box size itself is not very large.

▼ The kit includes a total of 12 runners, along with 1 water decal sheet and a cable piece for the back of the head. The manual also features quite a few fun Easter egg comments, which add a nice touch.

▼ As is standard for this line of kits, “hidden gates” are part of the design. Some parts also have molded-in detail on the reverse side to enhance texture and completeness.

▼ The sharpness of the runners is at an above-average level. The black parts are molded in a glossy black (with some minor imperfections), while the red parts have more of a semi-gloss finish.

▼ Susanoo’s weapons and hand parts are placed together on one runner, a very clear indication of what’s included.

▼ The accessories for Susanoo are only partial and cannot fully recreate the complete appearance.

▼ As a 1/100 scale kit released in 2025, the structure could never simply copy the old 1/144 design. While it doesn’t reach the intricate inner-frame detail seen during MG’s golden era, it still meets the FM-level standard. The overall fit is comfortable, and the combination of glossy ABS black and semi-gloss red parts gives the straight-build a very strong finish. Since the total part count isn’t large, it only takes about half a day to assemble and enjoy, making it especially friendly for builders with limited time to spend on snapping kits together.

▼ Standing at about 19cm tall, the overall design hasn’t been overly modified, so when displayed next to the MG Exia there’s no noticeable sense of inconsistency. The biggest change lies in the feet: the original slipper-like design has been reshaped into a trapezoid form. Personally, I think this alteration is quite acceptable.

▼ The uniquely shaped head does feature detailed FLAG-style eye parts inside, but once the faceplate is attached, those details are no longer visible.

▼ The cable at the back of the head is said to use the same material as a “nose bridge strip,” allowing it to bend freely into different shapes. The surface is also detailed with textures that match the material, which is a clever little design touch.

▼ The rear white parts are slightly misaligned, but this section can be replaced with the conical thrusters from the later “Susanoo” version.

▼ The drum-shaped parts on both sides of the waist are the unit’s “pseudo solar reactors.” They are connected by multiple articulated mechanical arms, mainly allowing for vertical angle adjustments, while horizontal movement is limited to a small range provided by ball joints.

▼ This section can also be swapped out for the later “Susanowo” clamp structure, and it is capable of mounting the physical blade Sōten.

▼ The beam sabers come in two colors: transparent red and orange, each available in both a long and short version.

▼ The later “Susanoo” belly cannon has already been pre-built into this unit.

▼ The twin-shoulder GN Field Generators can flip outward.

▼ So now you can preemptively unleash the “Triple Punisher.”

▼ In terms of articulation, thanks to its unique “matchstick” body type, it can practically pull off any pose. The original armor design itself is sharp and aggressive, and when handling it, players’ fingers can also feel that same “aggressiveness.” Best to be careful—watch out for those pokes!

▼ The head, chest, and waist-abdomen joints all have a very wide range of motion, allowing for forward bends, backward leans, and side tilts. However, because of the samurai helmet design, the head’s up-and-down movement is quite limited, though turning side to side poses no problem.

▼ The arms can raise to over 90 degrees, the elbows can bend beyond 120 degrees, and each shoulder has an internal structure that allows forward extension up to 45 degrees.

▼ The range of motion in the legs is extremely wide, allowing for both horizontal and vertical splits with ease. However, the ankle joint uses a special triple-hinge structure: while the ground contact range is excellent, adjusting it into a stable position does require some patience and fine-tuning.

▼ When the legs are installed in the normal orientation, the closed-leg stance tends to look a bit stiff. If you want to recreate the anime pose with arms crossed in front of the chest and legs tightly together with the hips thrust forward, you can “cheat” by reversing the left and right hip joints during assembly.

▼ The model does not include a display stand, but it does come with a connector piece that is compatible with standard MG stands. It also fits well with most third-party stands on the market, so there’s not much to worry about when it comes to posing.
